Being born in the last USSR decade and living in the contemporary Russian autocratic state, Mika Plutitskaya is sensitive to late Soviet epoch and memory. Being a female, the artist is concerned with Soviet gender representations and adolescent gender codes in particular. She is interested in stereotypes, stipulations and unspoken experiences within Soviet culture regarded from the contemporary perspective. As far as for Mika's generation this culture exists rather as a myth than life experience, she regards deconstruction of Soviet myth as one of the tasks within her art practice.
