Ustina Yakovleva
Ustina Yakovleva (b.1987) creates abstract works in a variety of techniques, in which she explores the internal connections between landscapes and natural structures and materials. In her practice, the artist turns to traditional materials, such as pearls, cotton and linen. Yakovleva's paintings exist in a constant dialogue with the works that the artist embroiders on her own. She uses embroidery on different scales - from small postcards to entire artist books. Nature and the study of biomorphic forms are central to the artist's practice, largely inspired by the culture and mythology of the North.
